I know I have neglected this poor blog but I am still here and I have a great excuse for slacking...the Tabby Art family is expecting! We have a new bundle arriving in October! This has We are very excited and to celebrate, and to make things much easier on the mama-to-be, we have a new FANTASTIC special. The special includes a CD and your slideshow DVD of ALL your images for $350! How will this make things easier? I had the chance to photograph this beautiful boy along with his two cousins. I was so excited to photograph him when I saw all that gorgeous hair and those huge brown eyes. Photographing him was different. Usually, boys are all over the place exploring and just being boys. He however, was very serious, still, and made a lot of eye contact which I LOVED. He was a pro! It made my job super easy but also a little more challenging to get some smiles. We had a lot of fun and I loved every minute of it!

I can't believe it. Only 6 month til he is 2. Kinda makes me sad, but then I think about how fun it will be when he is out of the scream-as-much-as-i-breathe stage. I conned Brad into taking Grayson with him to visit his youth for church so that I could take some picks of Hartley and they turned out much better than I thought. I envisioned only getting those famous screaming shots, but I got some pretty cute ones. How bout I let you see for yourself...

Most 2 year olds do not like getting their photos taken. And usually, it's a cat and mouse game to try to get a shot-any shot. Well not this little one. She loved the camera and hammed it up for me. Probably one of the most enjoyable 2 year olds to photograph!

Usually, newborn sessions are quiet, calm, and quite peaceful by nature. We have to be quiet and "low key" in order to keep a positive and calm vibe for the baby. Well, this baby wanted to have some fun! So, she decided to play a little joke on us (or rather, her daddy) by pooping every 23 seconds. It was actually really funny because she kept daddy in her line of fire, while mom and I stayed relatively poop free. With all of the laughing, this was one of loudest and most fun newborn sessions ever.

This is THE cutest little guy. Doesn't he look like a little GAP model? This little man, however did not want to model for me and had better things to do than to put up with me and my camera as do most children this age (and it won't get better till age 3). Poor mommy thought I didn't get anything. But when toddlers get to this stage, they just don't want to sit and smile. So, you have to be creative and a little stealthy to get the shots you want....

Often times, the daddy becomes the make-him-smile-machine...

We were trying to get a shot of her standing, which she was NOT loving. So brave daddy came to the rescue, and went on the other side of the bridge, dangerously close to the water below, to motivate her . What a good daddy!

She is such a happy baby. Just content to pick weeds and sit in a twiggy basket. The basket shots were at the end of the session and were at my house in my backyard. Most babies are grumpy and exhausted after being changed, fussed over, and photographed for an over an hour. Not her!

A NOTE ABOUT NEWBORNS

I am so in love with photographing newborns. This is my favorite age to photograph and slowly, I will be trying to make this my specialty. I have recently stopped taking free newborn sessions for now but I might resume later on. Some people have been confused as to how to book a newborn so, I would like to clear up some things about how newborns are booked. It is best to call me 2-3 months BEFORE your baby is born and to give me your due date. I will then put your due date on the calendar and you will pay your session fee. You will then give me updates on how the pregnancy is going because some little ones like to make appearances early and some like to come late. And you all know we need to get them photographed before 10 days old to get the good shots. Newborns 2 weeks and under will ALWAYS be worked in no matter if I m booked or not. I think this is such a pure and precious stage that is so fleeting and it needs to be captured as art.

My childern have something. Something saddening, horrific, and above all frustrating. Something heartbreaking for all photographer moms. It is called PKS -Photographer's Kid Syndrome. For all of those who don't know what PKS is, these photographs will explain...

Getting a decent photograph of these two together is near impossible. Usually bribing works for Grayson, but when I told him he would get candy for sitting for a pic, he politely said "no danks". He refused candy! Never though I'd see the day. I guess the PKS gets worse with age.

Kinda Makes Me Want To Be Italian

What a fun and hectic session this was! This was the biggest session I have ever done. There were aunts and uncles, cousins, godparents, grandparents, and more. This family came all the way from Italy for their baby's baptism and I was glad they chose me to document this milestone. Look at the gorgeousness (is that a word?) of this family!

I am fairly new to this business and it has taken me a while to define MY style and I am so glad for you to get to experience it. It took me a while because as you know, I only take a MAX of 6-8 sessions per month so that I can provide a custom experience for all my clients. This little girl did not want to go to sleep, be placed on her belly, or have her paci removed. She was the princess and she wanted everyone to know it. She had such a cute personality at only 3 weeks old. So we decided to get some with her eyes open, on her back, and we plugged and pulled that paci. Mom and Dad were so patient and calm. ...Is what I first though when asked to photograph a 2 year old and an 11 week old. These ages are usually the hardest ages to photograph. No so with Miss O and Mister B. These two were perfect little angels. You can tell there is so much love in this family. Take a look at sneak peek part 1...

Such a gorgeous family!

Miss princess kept calling me and my assistant/friend Ashley "kids." She would say in her little munckhin voice, "come on kids!" Oh, and she's a daddy's girl, and she has him wrapped around her little finger.

The new little peanut was such a sweetheart.

Little man is in the new buggy I found. Looks like he's sleeping, but he's faking it. We had to fight to get little man asleep, but he won. So, we will be back tomorrow to try again. Just one of the perks of custom photography -- a second chance!

With this face, he's going to be able to get away with anything. I just love him so much. I love is perfect little fingers and toes and the way he always stuffs his whole fist in his mouth. I love the way he looks at me like he's trying to tell me how much he loves me. I love the way he's bald in every spot except for the very top of his head. I even love that I have to change my shirt 5 times a day cause he likes to shower me with his vomit. I love everything about him. I'm so glad God chose to place him in my life!

Mini Sessions and Special of the Month

Special of the month: The first person to contact me (through my website or by phone) will recieve a free session. Montgomery sessions excluded. If you are from Montgomery, your session will be discounted to $50.

We will be conducucting 2 mini sessions coming up...

The first will be "Portraits with Pumpkins." This mini session will be 30 min or less in length and will be held on October 3rd from 7am-11:304am and 1:30pm-3pm. The fee will be $75 and will include 2 5x7s of your choice. We will have pumpkins and other fall decor which will be a fun, but natural backdrop for your portraits. Wear your fun fall outfits or wear your halloween costumes!

The second mini session will be the Holiday Card Mini. Want your holiday cards taken care of? Then come to the Holiday Card Mini Session with Tabby ART Photography. Get your portraits taken, then choose your card, and order then and there! Your holiday cards will be available for pick up on Friday November 14th or delivered by Monday November 17th. We have gorgeous trifold cards, flat cards, and bifold cards available. Cost is $100 which includes 25 custom flat photo cards of your choice. November 1st, 7th and 8th from 7am-2pm.

Biggest Fan

Grayson is OBSESSED with basketball. He'll find anything--a paper clip even-- and somehow make it a basketball. If he has no hoop, the nearest human must become one. They must raise their arms in front of them at just the right height (cause he'll correct you if your arms are too low) and let him shoot his "basketball" over and over for as long as his little heart desires. There is only one person to blame for this. No, not his father--he loves football. The one person to blame for his obsession is his uncle- (my bro) Josh. Josh lives, breathes, sleeps, and eats basketball. That's all he talks about and if anyone who's ever met him would know what I mean. From day one Josh was showing Grayson basketball moves, tricks, plays and everthing else he could think of. Seriously, as a newborn baby, he was teaching him basketball moves. Grayson is Josh's biggest fan and is thrilled when he gets to go "shoop" the ball with his uncle. Here are some pics of their latest game...

Check Your Chargers

Everyone with small children...

Please check your chargers-- like phone chargers, battery chargers, or i don't know, swiffer sweeper chargers. Yeah, a swiffer sweeper charger just gave Grayson the biggest shock of his little 22 month old life. Make sure you unplug those things!

Here is a pic from a recent session. This little boy is one of the best big brothers ever. So patient and kind. A true example of GREAT Christian parenting. I can't decide which one I like the best. Color or B&W...

The Cast

Many of you know my little man broke his leg about a week ago. We were sliding down the biggest baddest slide in Birmingham (a.k.a. the slide of death) when Grayson's leg got caught between me and the slide. It was the strangest thing cause I didn't even think he was actually hurt. He started crying and wouldn't stand on his own. When grayson gets hurt, he cries for a short time, and then he's fine. So, when he didn't stop crying, I knew something was wrong. Well, we got in the car and decided to go to the doctor, however, every time I went over a bump, he would say "it hurwts" and start crying. Then I was very worried. So we raced to the hospital, and I glad we made it alive cause I was running lights and flying down hwy 31. If a cop would have tried to stop me, they would have had to follow me to the ER. So then we made it to the ER and I called my friend to pick Hartley up. I sat Grayson down in a chair so that I could fill out paper work when Grayson jumped out of the chair hurting his leg even more (he was trying to follow me to the desk). He starts screaming, Hartley starts screaming cause he's ready to eat (like always), and I start balling cause Grayson is in more pain. So all of are snot faced and teary. I let the front desk people hold Hartley so Grayson and I could go to get his leg checked out. To make a long story short (kinda), we got the dumbest doctor who said the obvious break in his xray was a blood vessel, and he didn't even put a cast on the leg. Luckily, we got a referral to a specialist, and later on that day, we got his cast put on by a doctor with more sense than the first. The doctor said that he had a "toddler fracutre" which is a fracture that is spiral in nature, but heals quickly. So little man picked a blue cast and here it is....

I know a cast shouldn't be cute, but itsn't it the cutest little blue cast ever? He's doing much better and can now walk on it pretty well.

People always say Grayson looks like Brad. I was pleased to hear people say Hart looked like me. You carry them for 9 months, they get ripped from your loins after 25 hours of labor, and you basically lend them your boobs for over a year. You would want at least one of them to look like you right? It's the least they can do. Well, I took some pictures of Hartley a couple of days ago. And what do ya know, the little traitor has morphed into a mini Brad....

Will I ever get one who looks like me? Not this time.
